Junior & Youth training 1/2/22

Brothers Juniors got underway tonight for our first training session of the year. Our coaches are a great blend of experience and personalities all committed to making this year a wonderful experience for the kids and the families. First session is usually the most chaotic with an unknown number of people turning up and coaches with their plans on paper… and mindful that they may need to tweak things depending on the kids. After an all in warm up with parents taking on the kids in the classic stuck in the mud, we broke into three activities and rotated the groups of roughly the same aged kids through. This approach gave the coaches a chance to focus on perfecting one activity each, and the kids a chance to experience different styles and get comfortable with the coaching group. We wrapped things up by undoing years of “its rude to snatch things” with an activity to give the kids confidence to “snatch first, snatch hard, no mercy…” which really helps when the ball is on the ground and in dispute. Small steps at this stage and lots of fun – the kids used their height advantage to beat the parents. A great night for the club with an awesome Term 1 in store.
