Bulldogs through to home Grand Final after defeating Bay Power in a nail-biter!

Brothers Bulldogs are through to the Marquis Macadamias AFL Wide Bay Senior Men’s final after defeating Bay Power in a nail-biting encounter at Keith Dunne Oval (Hervey Bay Bombers).

After previously defeating the Power on all 5 occasions during the regular season the Bulldogs went into the match as favourites, however a feisty Bay Power side had other plans and took it to the Bulldogs in a bruising encounter.

The Bulldogs lead 28-14 at half time, before the Power responded in the third quarter with 4 goals to 2 leaving a narrow 1 point margin at 3/4 time (Bulldogs 42 – Power 41).

Bay Power took the lead early in the 4th quarter, and held on until the dying minutes as a home grand final looked to be slipping away from the Bulldogs. However, a moment of magic from young gun Harry Tancredi with a banana kick on the run from 40 metres out with less than 3 minutes on the clock sent the Bulldogs supporters into raptures, taking a narrow 4 point lead. Brothers held on in the last few minutes for a famous victory to give them a shot at undefeated reigning Premiers the Hervey Bay Bombers in the Grand Final on Saturday, September 3.

Final score – Brothers Bulldogs 8.9.57 def Bay Power 7.5.45

Earlier in the day our Under 12’s & 14’s both had fantastic victories against Bay Power. Congratulations to coaches Shane Brady (Under 12) & Andrew Wattie (Under 14) & all of the players. They will now have the opportunity to take on the Hervey Bay Bombers at home in next Saturday’s Grand Finals.
