Bombers President Phil Short’s hopes for a clean sweep of the 2022 AFL Wide Bay Grand Finals were short lived, with our Under 12’s putting in a fantastic team performance to hold on for a nail-biting 2 point victory over Hervey Bay Bombers Black.
Led by Best On Ground Hugo Timms, the Bulldogs led 9-1 at half time before extending the margin to 17-3 half way through the final quarter. The Bombers then kicked 2 goals to set up a grandstand finish with less than 3 minutes on the clock. However, the Bulldogs dug deep and repelled the Bombers attacks to hold onto the lead at the final siren to the delight of the home crowd.
Congratulations to coach Shane Brady, assistant Matt Marlyn and all of the players on winning our first under 12’s Premiership since 2015. It’s just reward for all of the hard work and planning put in throughout the year.
