The Brothers Bulldogs senior men are preparing for a grand final rematch this Saturday with the Hervey Bay Bombers. It was so near yet so far for the Bulldogs in last year’s decider, with the Bombers prevailing 47-33 after the teams were separated by only 3 points at 3/4 time (36-33). The victory made it three consecutive premierships for the all-conquering Bombers outfit who have also remained undefeated during that period.
In other fixtures, the Bulldogs Reserves also face a grand final rematch with the Bombers after going down convincingly in the 2023 decider (98-13). While the Bulldogs senior women will be looking to start the season off well against a Bombers side that lost to Bay Power (31-21) in last year’s Preliminary Final, with Power falling short to the ATW Eagles in the Grand Final (14-25). After a promising start to the 2023 season which had the Bulldogs ladies in finals contention, a significant injury count in the back end of the season resulted in a 4th place finish. Coach Felicity Tankey is excited for her third year in charge and hopes this is the year they can put it all together and reach the AFL Wide Bay Women’s finals for the first time.
